5 Key Frames

These are the 5 key frames that we have come up with for our trailer to our film 'Decay'. We decided to include some found footage of a city to show the destruction caused by the zombie apocalypse. We have decided to use this as it would be too difficult to film this scene by ourselves using the equipment available to us. The rest of the images represent the remaining storyline and plot points that we are going to include within our trailer. These include, a zombie chasing a human down an alley way and killing them, the whole time this is happening it is being shot through the eyes of the zombie.

The next scene will be of a steamed up glass window with a horde of zombies pressing their hands up on the glass and groaning, this is to recreate iconic codes and conventions usually used within zombie horror movies. The shot that follows this will be of one of the brothers wielding a baseball bat that is dripping with blood, which will be used to represent to the audience the gory nature of our film. In addition to this, it will also hint at the audience that the brother has just used the weapon to take out the zombies, which shows an element of action within our trailer.

Our final image we decided on as a group was to have a camera focusing on a wall of TV screens used to monitor CCTV footage within a run down area, the camera will pan across the room and there will be a zombie present within the room. Once the camera pans away from the zombie and returns the zombie will move closer to the camera. We hope that this along with the rest of the 5 key frames will allow for audiences to compare our trailer with that of a typical zombie horror movie trailer.

25th Jan- filming after school of the equilibrium of the two brothers laughing and playing games with one another to show the audience what life was like for the brothers before the beginning of the apocalypse. As well as this we will be filming at 4:30pm as this is when it gets dark outside. We will be filming scenes in which the brothers are searching for food and supplies within an abandoned village. The footage is all going to be shot as hand held footage to give the trailer a more realistic feel.

28th January- We had to return to the abandoned house on the Saturday to re-film some of our shots as when we went through the footage we shot on the Wednesday there was not enough well filmed footage that we could have used in our trailer. Therefore we decided to return to the abandoned house to film some more shots to bulk up the amount of footage we have to use in our trailer. Not all the footage that we captured will be used in our trailer as we filmed over 10 minutes worth of footage. Once this is edited and put into our trailer it would last between 3-4 minutes. Therefore, we will need to cut down the amount of footage we use and only include the relevant footage to make sure our trailer is fast paced and flows well together.

The sessions that we have marked green are days that we are going to make available for filming. This does not necessarily mean that we are going to be filming on these days every week. The majority of these sessions are going to be taken up by editing and discussion sessions when we as a group take time to re-evaluate our trailer and come up with ideas for new shots we could film or for ideas related to the editing of the trailer.
